2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate Review: The Traditionalist’s Choice

The 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate was recently part of a comparison test of top-trim full-size pickup trucks that also included the 2024 Ford F-150 Platinum and 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten. While the Ford and Ram had twin-turbo six-cylinder engines under their hoods — with the F-150’s engine part of a gas-electric hybrid system — the Sierra 1500 was powered by a traditional V-8 engine: a 6.2-liter V-8 making 420 horsepower and 460 pounds-feet of torque.

Even though the Sierra wasn’t the quickest truck in our testing, our judges really liked its burly exhaust note and the powertrain’s towing manners. In this video, Road Test Editor Brian Normile breaks down the highlights and lowlights of GMC’s light-duty full-size pickup.
