Tampa officers rescue more than 100 people after Hurricane Milton [Video]

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa police officers said they rescued more than 100 people in the days after Hurricane Milton.

Police said there were 118 water rescues between Thursday and 6 p.m. on Friday.

“TPD Officers have been working tirelessly to rescue community members from high water,” the Tampa Police Department wrote in a social media post. “Because of their efforts, a total of 118 lives were saved.”

Police asked the community for patience while they continue to help everyone get back to normal.

Hurricane Milton made landfall Wednesday evening near Siesta Key as a Category 3 storm. The storm left a path of destruction across the Tampa Bay area.

Nearly 2 million people across Florida remained without power as of Friday night.
