Voters to decide on Moorhead Area Public Schools capital projects levy [Video]

MOORHEAD, Minn. (Valley News Live) – Voters will decide on a Moorhead Area Public Schools capital projects levy referendum Tuesday.

The term of the proposed $43 million levy is 10 years.

“The biggest thing that it would allow for us to do is to continue to stabilize our budget,” Superintendent Dr. Brandon Lunak said. “Right now, we’ve been playing catchup with inflation on all the things that we have to purchase.”

Voters will decide if they want to pay more in property taxes to improve local schools. The referendum proposes a capital project levy authorization of 7.975% times the net tax capacity of the school district.

The additional revenue will be used to enhance curriculum, improve facilities, invest in technology and update transportation.
