Aside from the US election results, the topic of conversation that has dominated social media in the last 48 hours is, quite unexpectedly, Gary Barlow’s son.

Daniel Barlow, 24, was pictured alongside the Take That hitmaker, 53, positively dwarfing his dad and the rest of their family, and the internet has reacted.

Memes have spread like wildfire in a perfect distraction from the political news that has seen Donald Trump re-elected as the 47th President of the United States.

We thought these were two separate online conversations, until Trump’s son Barron, 18, stood up alongside the Republican, and everyone was also struck by his lanky build – all 6ft 7in of it.
