Sen. Eric Schmitt withdraws from consideration as Trumps pick for attorney general [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Senator Eric Schmitt served as Missouri’s attorney general before being elected to the U.S. Senate. And he will not pursue the AG title for President-elect Donald Trump.

Schmitt, a Republican, posted to social media on Monday that he has requested the Trump transition team to remove his name from consideration for attorney general.

“I ran for the U.S. Senate to represent the people of the Show Me State and I’m just getting started. The American people have given President Trump a mandate.
