Jacksonville firefighter of 11 years dies of ‘job-related’ brain cancer [Video]

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville firefighter has died after 11 years serving the community, the Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department announced Wednesday.

Jason Woodruff, 53, was actively serving JFRD at the time. He was assigned to Fire Station 19 in Arlington. 

He died from brain cancer, which JFRD Captain Eric Prosswimmer told First Coast News was “job-related.” 

JFRD wrote in a social media post that Woodruff “will be forever remembered for his dedication to this community and his love of being a Jacksonville firefighter.”

JFRD is asking the community for support for Woodruff’s family. “Please keep his wife Jennifer and their children in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
