Netflix denies leaving major market in Africa [Video]

Streaming giant Netflix says it isn’t leaving one of its biggest markets in Africa despite rumours to the contrary.

Netflix has denied reports, even from the likes of Business Insider, that it is planning to exit Nigeria saying that it will continue to invest in producing content in Africa’s largest economy and its second-biggest market by subscribers outside of South Africa.

“We are not exiting Nigeria. We will continue to invest in Nigerian stories to delight our audience,” a Netflix spokesperson told TechCabal on Wednesday.

Rumours initially began spreading from comments made by Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, who has contributed to Netflix shows before.
