Animal lovers have been left in stitches over the way a cat is adjusting to having a new puppy in the house.

One TikTok user shared a short clip of her two pets to her account @mariahsteele_ on December 8, and couldn’t have imagined just how much the internet would love it.

Since being shared just five days ago, the nine-second video has been viewed over 10 million times, racking up 2 million likes and thousands of comments in the process.

It shows what could almost be a picturesque Christmas scene: a tree filled with lights twinkling in the background, while in the foreground a cat and golden retriever puppy interact.

Except this encounter isn’t one you’d find on a Christmas card, as the animals are playing in possibly the most violent way possible without actually injuring each other.
