10 staffers on leave in St. Helens sex abuse investigation [Video]

ST. HELENS Ore. (KPTV) – The St. Helens school district has 10 staff members currently on paid administrative leave in connection with the ongoing investigation related to allegations of sexual misconduct involving students or for failing to report the misconduct.

PREVIOUS COVERAGE:

After the arrest of one former and one current teacher in St Helens, the district brought in a crisis communications consultant to help manage the fallout.

Principal Katy Wagner is currently on leave after being arrested and charged with two counts of felony criminal mistreatment. Among the six total charges she is facing.

Choir Instructor Eric Stearns is also among the employees on leave.

The school district gave a timeline of when people were placed on leave but wouldn’t disclose the names, positions, or work locations for any of them.

Only two known staff members have been arrested, Stearns and Wagner.
