This 1963 Corvette Grand Sport is one of just five ever built, but it’s still being used on the track as its creator, Zora Arkus-Duntov, intended.

By now, most are familiar with the story of the iconic 1963 Corvette Grand Sport, a machine that came to life as Zora Arkus-Duntov‘s Shelby Cobra killer – a lightweight, high-horsepower, heavily-modified version of the regular old production C2. Unfortunately, GM refused to budge and ditch the Automobile Manufacturers Association’s ban on factory-supported racing at the time, meaning that the 1963 Corvette Grand Sport was essentially dead on arrival, and just five of the intended 125-unit production run were ever built. Recently, YouTuber Robert Lyon had the chance to check out car number three in its natural habitat – the track.
