N.S. news: Shelter-in-place order lifted in Trenton [Video]

A shelter-in-place order that was in place overnight in Trenton, N.S., due to a barricaded person has been lifted.

New Glasgow Regional Police said they were searching for a 27-year-old man in the Duke Street area just before 10 p.m. Thursday.

Police then asked people to stay in their homes and avoid the 100 block of Duke Street as they responded to a residence around 1 a.m.

In an update on social media about an hour later, police said there was a barricaded person that may be armed in the residence and continued to ask people to shelter in place.

Police said there was no immediate threat to the public.

The area was also closed to traffic and pedestrians.

The shelter-in-place order was lifted for residents just before 4:30 a.m. Police said the area was deemed safe and officers remained at the scene continuing to investigate.
