CES 2025: ‘Helldivers 2’ is getting a movie, Sony announces [Video]

Summon your squad for this bit of CES 2025 news: Helldivers 2 is being made into a movie.

Announced during Sony’s keynote at the consumer tech event, Arrowhead Game Studios’ wildly popular 2024 co-op shooter game will be adapted for the big screen.

“We are excited to announce we are working with Sony Pictures on developing a film adaptation of our amazingly popular PlayStation game Helldivers 2,” said Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, during the presentation. No director, cast, or writers have been announced as yet.

It shouldn’t be too much of a stretch to imagine what a Helldivers 2 movie would look like considering how much the game clearly draws from Paul Verhoeven’s cult 1997 film Starship Troopers.
