If you receive one of these suspicious envelopes, police are asking residents to keep the contents as evidence and drop them off at the Independence Police Department.
“Remember that legitimate businesses rarely send unsolicited gift cards through personal mail delivery. When in doubt about any suspicious mail or potential scam, contact IPD dispatch at 216-524-1234. Your safety is our priority,” said Independence police.
Residents are encouraged to share this information to help protect their neighbors and family members from falling victim to this scam.
