AMES, Iowa — Over two years after it was first announced, the Iowa Board of Regents approved the CyTown development agreement at its Wednesday meeting.
The 30-year agreement now allows Iowa State University, developer Goldenrod Companies and ISU Research Park to move forward with the $200 million entertainment development.
“The CyTown project would not be possible without the tremendous collaboration from many partners including the Board of Regents, the City of Ames and McFarland Clinic,” Iowa State University President Wendy Wintersteen said in a news release. “We look forward to the ongoing partnerships as the CyTown development begins to take shape.”
According to the agreement, all three parties will get development rights for about 48 acres of land: 43 between Jack Trice Way and Center Drive, and five acres north of Center Drive for hotel development.
