TikTokers Plead for Fans To Follow Them Elsewhere As Ban Looms [Video]

The short-form video app TikTok has become a household name, captivating millions of users worldwide with its engaging, snappy content and personalized algorithm.

But the app’s future in the U.S. is uncertain as political tensions between Washington and Beijing escalate. It could be banned on Jan. 19 under a law that forces the platform to cut ties with its China-based parent company, ByteDance, or shut down its U.S. operation.

In April 2024, President Joe Biden signed a bill requiring ByteDance to divest its stake over national security concerns. This Friday, the Supreme Court will hear arguments about the app’s future, while lawmakers debate a proposed 270-day extension on the deadline for the ban under the Extend the TikTok Deadline Act.
