We all have fantasies about quitting our day job to go do something like hike through the mountains or start a bakery.

Ben Safchuk is living the dream after he quit his full-time gig at the advertising firm, The Martin Agency in Shockoe Bottom, where he worked in marketing. Now, he is opening B-Side Bakehouse at 707 N. Sheppard St. on Friday, if everything goes according to plan with Richmond city.

His specialty? Croissants and cookies. 

B-Side Bakehouse opens today in the Museum District.

His mission is to expertly understand the delicate mechanics of the croissant and perfect the density of the chocolate chip cookie, and “break them apart,” he said, to create something a bit different and near perfect.
