BMI had the incredible privilege of being invited into Emmy Award-winning, multi-Platinum singer/songwriter’s Los Angeles recording studio to discuss her first new album in seven years entitled, ‘I Am Rachel Platten.’

Following a remarkable period of global success wherein she established herself as a consistent hitmaker and songwriter with a resonant, empowering message, Rachel Platten took a step back to focus on other aspects of her life. A tremendous transition took place when she became a parent, a profound experience that crucially informed her sense of self and worldview. She also endured a very personal struggle with her mental health, a conflict only heightened by the arrival of the pandemic.

In navigating those obstacles, Platten immersed herself in her songwriting, which proved to be a galvanizing and therapeutic process. She transformed those feelings into hopeful songs of healing that helped her reclaim herself from her darkest moments. Emerging from that chapter, Platten hoped those same songs that restored her solace could do the same for others. As such, Platten has returned with her new album, ‘I Am Rachel Platten,’ a striking, self-produced collection of heartfelt songs that are undeniable in their authenticity.
