Five Columbia Area Career Center students officially became registered youth apprentices under the U.S. Department of Labor during a celebration event Tuesday.
The ceremony, held at the Regional Economic Development Inc. Hub, recognized student achievement and highlighted the importance of apprenticeships in preparing students for the workforce while benefiting local businesses.
The program bridges the gap between classroom learning and practical application. CACC Business and Industry Engagement Coordinator Stacy Elsbury said apprenticeships provide a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience while still having the support of their teachers.
