The festival returns for its 32nd year, bringing together eight storytellers from across the country to celebrate the oral tradition that unites communities.
MIDLAND, Texas — For 32 years, the Midland Storytelling Festival has been a beacon of tradition, creativity and connection in West Texas. In the spirit of the holiday season, the festival is back, offering three days of stories from around the country that highlight the universal human experience.
“Telling a story is more than just saying words,” said Sue Roseberry, affectionately known as Mama Sue, a pillar in the storytelling community. “It’s an expression of self, life, and experience.”
Roseberry, a longtime advocate for the art of storytelling, believes that stories are essential, especially during the holidays. “When my children come around for holiday festivities, they can expect some stories because they anchor us and help us know who we are and why we are.”
