NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The United States Postal Service warned consumers that a fake engagement ring delivery scam is back.
Happening throughout black Friday sales, a fake engagement ring in a luxury-style red box shows up at your doorstep, authorities said.
“Somebody posted it up on Facebook, and I was like ‘wow’, that’s the same exact ring my daughter and her friend got,” Denise told 1010 WINS.
Jessica Claudiano also received a ring and noticed that there was a barcode on the back of the box that was connected to hacking.
“I thought maybe it was an engagement ring, and then I was like, no way, this is not my style and it looks fake,” Claudiano said.
Officials warn anyone who receives a fake engagement ring to be on the lookout for phony texts or phone calls demanding money for the ring.
