ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Sandy Springs police chased down a woman accused of driving while impaired on New Year’s Day.
At around 11:10 p.m., an officer tried to pull over a speeding car on GA 400 at Spalding Drive. But the driver refused to stop, kickstarting a chase that led onto I-285 E and Buford Highway, police said.
Dashcam video shared on social media showed that police had to use a precision immobilization technique (PIT) several times before the driver stopped.
The woman, who has not been identified, faces charges of speeding, improper lane change, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, hit and run and DUI.
“Impaired driving will not be tolerated in Sandy Springs,” police said. “Drink responsibly.”
