Incumbent Everett Roy and former Dist. 1 city councilman Bill Lerma are headed to a runoff after neither candidate managed to secure more than 51 percent of the vote Tuesday night.
Roy was facing challenges from not only former Dist. 1 city councilman Billy Lerma, pastor Anthony Aquino, sales and marketing manager John Garcia and consultant Eli McKay.
The District 1 councilperson represents North Beach, Downtown, Uptown and North Side Corpus Christi, Calallen and Annaville.
The Dist. 1 candidates had nuanced responses to whether they supported the Inner Harbor Desalination Project when 3NEWS asked them to fill out questionnaires in October, with Lerma saying a definite “No.”
