Not all professional athletes are politically astute. Some who are choose to express their views privately, while others use their platform to make their political stances public.
Jonathan Lucroy joined the latter category Tuesday as Americans headed to the polls to cast their ballots in the presidential election. The two-time All-Star catcher, who retired after the 2021 season following a 12-year career with nine teams, wrote a lengthy plea to eligible voters on his Twitter/X account.
“Please go out and vote today,” Lucroy wrote. “Personally, I am voting for family and patriotic values. I love my wife, my children, my God, and my family. I reject anything that is contrary to my children’s growth as productive, hardworking, and meritorious adults. I love America and what it stands for. Anything that tries to fundamentally change that I will reject harshly.
