Mick Foley would’ve done much more during his tenure as Cactus Jack in WCW, had Turner’s legal department not stepped in.
Foley wrestled for years in WCW before parting ways with the company to join the WWF where he would debut as Mankind in 1996.
On a recent edition of his “83 Weeks” podcast, Eric Bischoff reflected on working with Foley in the now-defunct promotion. He said,
“The only issue I had with [Foley] is he wanted to do things, physically, that I just couldn’t let him do. I got word from Turner Legal to tone him down. There were concerns that not only could he permanently injure himself, or worse, but some of the stuff that he was doing could injure a fan, or worse.”
Bischoff recalled Foley wanting to jump off balconies and believes that being forced to reel his ideas in played a factor in Mick leaving WCW.
