The Caldwell Zoo finished construction on their newest project, Amazon River’s Edge
TYLER, Texas — After five years of planning, design and construction, the Caldwell Zoo’s long awaited expansion is almost open. Construction was recently completed, and the animals are beginning to move into their newly renovated habitats.
“It’s over seven acres completely redone, and the theme is the Amazon Basin, which is one of the most biodiverse regions in the world,” said Paul Swen, brand director at the zoo.
An assortment of creatures native to the Amazon Rainforest will soon make their homes at the Caldwell Zoo. This included the giant river otter, which can grow up to 6 feet long. Zoo guest can also look forward to a two-toed sloth, capybara, and a jaguar, among other rainforest creatures.
