AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – FEMA hosted a dinner and discussion event in Augusta for people to learn about resources available to help recovery after the storm.
The event, held at Good Shepherd Baptist Church on Olive Road, gave residents the opportunity to see the work being done in the community to assist those affected.
“There’s so many misconceptions out there about what it is we do and how we’re able to help,” said Nikki Gaskins-Campell from FEMA Media Relations. “Just to manage expectations, FEMA will never be a replacement for your insurance if you have it. But if you’re uninsured or underinsured we encourage people to reach out to us. Another big misconception is that “I make too much money.” But the reality is your income does not matter when it comes to FEMA assistance.”
