Former volunteer speaking out about new LC4 policy on social media postings [Video]

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Over the past few months, there has been a lot of discussion on social media about Lucas County Canine Care and Control, also known as LC4.

Based on LC4’s new volunteer policy, some former volunteers feel that their social media posts about their experiences at the shelter will disqualify them from volunteering there again.

“Kind of borderlines your freedom of speech, honestly. If you’re speaking out on something, why should you be punished for that?” said Sherrie Littin, a former volunteer.

Littin was the one who posted a bombshell video to social media that showed an LC4 employee allegedly mistreating dogs.

“I would say that the videos definitely coming out kind of opened up some eyes,” Littin said.

Since Littin posted that video, there have been major changes at LC4. The employee in the video was disciplined, the volunteer program was suspended, and Kelly Sears, the former director of LC4, was fired.
