NEW ORLEANS — A Georgia football player who is not dressed out in full uniform garnered much of the attention on social media in the first half of the Sugar Bowl thanks to one play.
On the first play of the third drive of the game, Gunner Stockton completed a 67-yard pass to Arian Smith to set Georgia up on the Notre Dame 11. Except it was called back 15 yards because Georgia defensive back Parker Jones, a redshirt sophomore from Albany, Georgia, ran into the referee while celebrating during the middle of the play on the sideline.
Jones, who is not even fully dressed out for the game, was called for offensive sideline interference, which cost the Dawgs 15 yards.
