GERRY ‘The Monk’ Hutch insists his bid for the Dail is “nothing to do” with taking on Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald and said: “I couldn’t care less about what she does.”

The 61-year-old criminal mastermind is confident of gaining a seat in McDonald’s stomping ground of Dublin Central but says people can tell him to “f*** off” if they want.

The Monk – who is on bail for alleged money laundering offences in Spain – has also revealed how his campaign will centre around homelessness and housing.

With immigration a hot-topic in the upcoming campaign, he said people are welcome into the country but told them: “Bring your toolbox with you and bring your skills. Don’t come into Ireland and expect to sponge off the dole.”
