Hysterics as ‘Escape Artist’ Dog Ruins Owners’ Engagement by Running Away [Video]

Everyone knows that proposals are supposed to be about the happy couple, but one rescue dog couldn’t control her urge to be the main character, so she slipped her leash and ran off during the celebration instead.

Dog owners Anne Marie Schlegel, 26, and her fiancé, Kody, 29, were celebrating their engagement in front of friends and family, and of course, their rescue dog, Ollie. As Schlegel popped open a bottle of champagne and sprayed bubbles everywhere, Ollie decided she’d had enough of her humans stealing the limelight and sneakily slipped out of her collar.

It only took a few moments for Kody, who was holding the leash, to realize there was no longer a dog on the other end of it. Thankfully, Schlegel told Newsweek that Ollie, a black Labrador mix, “didn’t actually run away” and she only got as far as a patch of grass nearby.
