Just the Facts: Constellation partners with CSIRO for natural hydrogen exploration

Proactive’s Tylah Tully breaks down ‘Just the Facts’ of the latest news from Constellation Resources Ltd (ASX:CR1).

The company has partnered with the CSIRO to explore natural hydrogen in Western Australia. The collaboration centres on the Edmund Collier and Yerrida projects, covering 56,000 square kilometres. Funded through CSIRO’s Kick-Start Program, the $145,000 initiative splits contributions between Constellation ($95,000) and CSIRO ($50,000).

The research will evaluate satellite imagery, remote sensing and geophysical data to detect gas seepages, informing soil gas sampling set for early 2025, pending land access approvals. The outcome will include a prospectivity model to identify key areas for hydrogen and helium exploration.

CSIRO’s Natural Hydrogen Roadmap underpins the project, aiming to foster Australia’s hydrogen industry through innovative geological research and commercialisation strategies.

Additionally, Constellation has received an Exploration Incentive Scheme grant from the Western Australian Government to support drilling at the Orpheus Project in the Fraser Range. The ongoing aircore drilling program targets nickel, copper and gold anomalies identified via ultrafine soil sampling, with completion expected by mid-December.

Both projects highlight Constellation’s commitment to using advanced methods for resource exploration.
