Justin McCarthy nominated as chief administrative officer for City of New Haven [Video]

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker announced on Monday that Justin McCarthy is his nominee to serve as chief administrative officer for the city.

If appointed by the Board of Alders, McCarthy will follow in the footsteps of Regina Rush-Kittle, who left city government last November.

In the senior management position, McCarthy would report directly to the mayor and be responsible for overseeing all the city’s public safety agencies and several other departments, divisions and offices such as the police department, fire department, engineering department, parks department and human resources.

McCarthy would bring over 21 years of first responder experience to the position, as well as extensive knowledge of New Haven. He also has gained senior management experience as an assistant fire chief in both New Haven and Greenwich.
