Maine senators Collins, King vote against Hegseth’s nomination [Video]

Both of Maine’s U.S. senators voted against the nomination of Pete Hegseth as President Donald Trump’s defense secretary, but he received enough votes from the rest of the Senate to have his nomination advanced.Sen. Susan Collins, a Republican, broke ranks to oppose Hegseth, a former combat veteran and Fox News host.In a statement, Collins said that while she appreciated Hegseth’s military service and his ongoing commitment to U.S. service members and their families, she is concerned Hegseth does not have the experience and perspective necessary to succeed in the job.Collins also expressed concern about multiple statements that Hegseth has made about women serving in the military.
