Welcome to The DocArena Podcast in association with Film Ireland. My name is Ross Whitaker and in this series of podcasts I want to dig deeply into the motivations of documentary filmmakers – how do they choose their subject material and what approaches and strategies do they employ to fund, craft and distribute their work…
In this episode of The DocArena Podcast, Ross Whitaker talks to Maurice O’Brien about his film Chasing the Light.
Chasing the Light tells the story of charismatic hippie Peter Cornish who founded Dzogchen Beara, a world-leading Tibetan Buddhist centre on the cliffs of West Cork. For five decades, this former clifftop farm has transformed the lives of thousands who receive solace from the Buddhist teachings. But as the devoted community attempts to build Ireland’s first Tibetan Buddhist temple, their revered teacher, Sogyal Rinpoche, is accused of serious misconduct.
In cinemas from 13th December 2024.
