MET Eireann have warned the weather is “set to take a turn” with rain and strong winds moving in to batter Ireland.
And amid the “unsettled” forecast for this week, one weather expert has issued a major new Christmas Day weather update.
Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather had previously ruled out chances of a white Christmas stating snow was looking unlikely.
In a fresh update the weather expert revealed the country could actually be set for a warm forecast on the big day.
Posting on social media he said: “We could be having the windows open on Christmas Day at this rate!
“A mild start to the week today too with some bright spells and just odd shower.”
Temperatures today will sit at a mild 9C to 11C, with Met Eireann’s Rebecca Cantwell advising today is set to be the “best” day this week.
