SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Missouri State University Band students packed up their gear Friday afternoon and headed out to Washington, D.C.
The MSU band will perform in the Presidential Inauguration Parade on Monday. The band director says everyone is being given extra hand and foot warmers, scarves, and earmuffs. Despite the cold, band students are still buzzing with excitement about this experience.
“They understand the honor to be selected to not only represent the university, but you know, Southwest Missouri, and all of Missouri really,” said Brand Snow, the band director.
The 350-piece band loaded up into seven buses for a 17-hour trip to the nation’s capital.
“It’s a huge, huge opportunity to do something that not really a lot of other people get to do. It’s just…it’s awesome, I’m so excited,” said MSU student Jenna.
