Mobile County Aquatics Center taking shape, 16 pickleball courts also in the works [Video]

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – On time and on budget- that’s the status of the multimillion dollar aquatic center coming to Mobile County.

Ever since ground was broken on the Mobile County Aquatics Center in September, crews have been diving headfirst into the construction at the sportsplex on Halls Mill Road.

Commissioner Connie Hudson says she’s happy with how the project is coming along.

“They are surcharging the property which means they are building up the base- soils- so they can handle the weight of the pool. It’s on time and on budget– we’re good,” said Commissioner Hudson.

Mounds of dirt are the humble beginnings of Phase 1. Phase 1 will include an outdoor competition pool with two dive wells, a check-in and concessions building, an indoor warm-up and instructional pool, locker rooms, restrooms and nearly 200 parking spaces.
