MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Another loaded gun was found on the campus of a Memphis Shelby County School, this time at Hamilton High School.
Court records show the teenage suspect has prior criminal charges on his record. MSCS Media Relations would not tell Action News 5 if he is a student at the school. In fact, MSCS Media Relations refused to answer five specific questions we submitted about school safety in the district.
At Wednesday’s community huddle with parents in Hickory Hill, MSCS board member Keith Williams lamented the campus crimes that have occurred just weeks into the new school year.
“A kindergarten child, in his backpack, had a loaded pistol!” said Williams, “the mother was asleep. He’s a kindergartner. You should have been getting him ready to go to school and you certainly should have known what was in the backpack!”
