SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Students at Morningside University have harvested corn that was grown, and managed, by the University’s agriculture students.
The goal? To teach the ins and outs of owning and managing farmland.
“A lot of times our students, they may have grown up on a farming operation and they might have had their seat on a tractor or in the combine; but they may not have had a seat at the computer or taken a look at how the business side of this works, or perhaps the marketing side,” said Morningside’s Department Head of Applied Agricultural and Food Studies department, Dr. Thomas Paulsen. “Those are some skill sets that are critically important for our students as they move out into the industry.”
