I’m not a particularly big fan of conspiracy theories. In my experience, the mundane truth is usually worse and more depressing. However, the latest advertising from Samsonite has me shaping a little tinfoil hat. In a new video advertisement from the suitcase company, we get to watch as Samsonite literally launches its new suitcase, Proxis, into space and then drops it back to Earth. The point was to prove just how perfectly lightweight and durable the product really is.
The new suitcase was taken into the Mojave Desert, and amongst a crowd of space enthusiasts and “industry insiders” (it is unclear if these are suitcase industry people, or space industry people) it was sent up into the outer reaches of our atmosphere. The suitcase, which is made with Samsonite’s patented ultralight Roxkin outer shell, was outfitted with 360 degree and 4K cameras, which documented the entire event.
