Senior Gratitude Day at Jackson Medical Mall introduces upgraded transportation system [Video]

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Seniors across the state celebrate their favorite teams and the expanded transportation at the Jackson Medical Mall today.

A new collaboration increases mobility for the elderly and disabled.

Lanier High School’s band started off tailgating during the fifth annual Senior Gratitude Day. More than 350 people over 65 participated in the annual day of fun.

Along with the festivities, the Jackson Medical Mall Foundation held a ribbon cutting introducing the Central Mississippi Support and Outreach Program.

The collaboration of public and private organizations provides more than 40 vehicles to transport the elderly and disabled. They provide rides to doctor’s appointments, shopping, and recreational trips.

“They come to your house and pick you up,” said David Gorden.

The 70 year old of Jackson is wheelchair-bound and uses the transportation system.
