Marking the follow-up to his acclaimed 2022 album, Luv 4 Rent, the project doesn’t have as many high-profile features. However, Bun B contributes a guest verse and there’s production from longtime collaborator Monte Booker as well as Kenny Beats and Thundercat (who also sings on “Hoe-nouns). Plus, there are reunions with Ravyn Lenae and Reggie.
In a statement, Smino elaborated on the care that went into Maybe in Nirvana, which is built around themes of love, self-discovery, and resilience. “This project is me exploring my own nirvana — my peace, my chaos, and everything in between,” he said. “Every song is a piece of me that ties into the bigger picture. I wanted to make something that feels limitless, like it could live outside of time.”
