“Blackwood Acacia is really special,” adds John Mahoney of West Coast Arborists, where the wood was sourced for the 914ce. “It doesn’t look like much, but oh-my-gosh, the inside of the logs have lots of undulation, making the wood tough, as well as equating to the figuring.”

“We’re kind of going back to the roots of instrument making by using things right in our backyard,” says Tim O’Brien Vice President of Marketing for Taylor Guitars. “You could literally walk from a Guitar Center to a Blackwood tree.
