The WNBA has officially announced its first team for Canada called the Toronto Tempo.
According to reports, the name was selected after the participation of over 10,000 during a public engagement program. During the press conference, Teresa Resch, the president of the newly minted team said, “Tempo is pace. It’s speed. It’s a heartbeat. And it’s what you feel when you step into the streets of this city and in the energy of the people who call Canada home.”
She continued, “As Canada’s WNBA team, I know the Tempo will set our own pace, move at a championship cadence, and inspire people across this country.” A video revealing the team’s logo and colors was released on social media but the uniforms have yet to be seen.
