Toledo seeks public input on allotment of millions of dollars in city programs [Video]

The Department of Housing and Community Development held a public meeting to get ideas from Toledo residents to create a five-year plan.

In a series of interactive community meetings held by the city, residents are encouraged to share their ideas and concerns.

“We need to put everybody’s ideas out there,” said Eduardo Adams, a resident of the Southside neighborhood and advocate against youth violence. “We have a problem with housing and there’s not enough jobs.”

Adams said improving housing does more than giving people a place to live. He said it could help lower crime. His perspective resonated with many attendees who stressed the need for affordable housing, home repair assistance and job opportunities. 

Monica Brown, who works in the city’s Department of Housing and Community Development, said housing concerns are common in Toledo.
