A major agricultural facilitator for the Treasure Valley, the New York Canal has been providing irrigation water for more than a century and upgrades made over the coming years will improve its future water conservation.
A six-mile stretch of the canal will be rehabilitated to bring greater efficiency in the management of Idaho’s water resources and strengthen the safety of the canal for Boise residents located below the canal’s elevated location. This project, which is not the first rehabilitation effort in the canal’s century-long history, will be specifically addressing a stretch of the canal near high-density housing on the Boise Bench, Idaho Department of Water Resources documentation said.
